We just aquired a KIA franchise and I need to update the scantool that is still in the previous owners name

We purchased a KIA franchise and the previous owners used a Maxisys 980 and I just wanted to update and it states the contract has expired and I just need to know how to reset the scan tool or update it in their name or what ever I can do otherwise this nice piece of equipment is nothing more than a door stop.
